Welcome to the MEDC
For any company already in Michigan or considering a location in the state, the Michigan Economic Development CorporationSM (MEDC) offers one-stop business assistance. Our business development managers work with consultants, utilities, associations and local economic development agencies to best match businesses' needs with Michigan's opportunities. From attractive financing through our $2 billion 21st Century Jobs Fund to significant and long-term tax abatements, few places can offer a more attractive financial package. The MEDC is also the channel for continuous improvement of the state's business climate.
MICHIGAN ADVANTAGE BLOG

Yesterday’s announcement by Georgia-based Suniva Inc. that the manufacturer of solar panels plans to invest $250 million in a new manufacturing facility in Saginaw County’s Thomas Township and create 500 new jobs over the next five years and news that the transformational alternative energy project in Wixom at the former Ford Wixom Assembly plant is moving forward show our strategy to become the alternative energy capital of North America is working.
Thanks to support from the Michigan’s new photovoltaic and advanced battery incentive programs, we helped convince Suniva, Clairvoyant Energy and Xtreme Power that we are serious about growing the alternative energy in Michigan and helping to end our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.
The three companies combined are expected to invest over $1 billion and create thousands of new, high-paying alternative energy jobs.
Thanks to a coordinated strategic plan driven by research and designed to leverage our strengths, we are now out in front of our competition to capture the advanced battery, solar and wind sectors and create thousands of new jobs in Michigan. I commend Governor Granholm, our state legislators, and our federal lawmakers for giving Michigan the tools we need to grow this industry and create jobs.
